“Finding Meaning and Hope”, a free discussion series for families caring for a loved one with dementia, will be offered by Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13568 W. Meeker Blvd.
Starting from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 15 through Monday, June 24, classes will meet in the church’s Fellowship Hall. There will be no session Monday, May 27.
On-site supervision for dementia patients will be provided by retired registered nurses while caregivers attend classes. Refreshments will be provided.
The ten-week course features videos and discussion based on the groundbreaking book, Loving Someone Who Has Dementia: How to find Hope While Coping with Stress and Grief, by Pauline Boss, Ph.D., a leading expert on caregiver grief. Facilitated by Julie Killebrew, R.N., M.S.N, Health Education Facilitator at Shepherd of the Hills.
The classes are designed to help family caregivers regain hope and build resilience when dealing with the challenges of caring for someone with dementia or other cognitive impairment.
