The Desert Winds Steel Orchestra will present a concert 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive. The group began performing with eight members in 1977 and has grown to 15. The musical art from they perform is known as “pan” in its homeland of Trinidad and Tobago. The program will include Latin and pop songs and an array of island tunes. The group recently released its newest CD entitled “Sweeter on Steel.” Their group’s director is Jerry Lopatin. This is a free community event and a goodwill offering can be made. Call 623-584-0350 or visit Adventaz.org for more information. The final concert in the season series will be Sunday, May 5, with a performance by The Many Sounds of 9.
