Buckeye police chief retires after 10 years with department

Chief Larry Hall is retiring next month after leading the Buckeye Police Department for a decade.
Hall’s retirement will be effective Jan. 20, officially marking 10 years of serving as head of the department, the city announced Thursday.
During his tenure, Hall worked with department members and city officials to increase staffing, modernize police policies and practices, earn accreditation for the department and public safety communications center, and implement technology to improve officer response and safety to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community.
“Serving the department and the Buckeye community in this leadership capacity has been the greatest honor I have received in my 33 years in law enforcement,” Hall shared in a press release. “I am proud of our accomplishments, and I am especially proud to have worked alongside the most courageous and dedicated sworn and professional staff that I have ever seen. We built this department, and the department’s reputation, together.”
Hall began his career with Buckeye police in 2006 and earned the role of chief in 2014. With his retirement, Hall concludes a law enforcement career of 33 years and looks forward to exploring new challenges.
Deputy Police Chief Robert Sanders will serve as interim police chief until mayor and council designate a permanent placement.
Buckeye shows a 2023 population of 111,500. Data project that the city’s population will grow by 79.6% from 2023 to 2036, when residents are expected to hit 200,300.
