Lundin: Ignore the noise and decide based on policy

Posted

Senator Sinema has dropped out of the Senate race. But we know American politics does not reward those who take a middle road.

After the SOTU speech, it is clear that our main party presidential options have narrowed down to two demagogues who are going after each other's jugular. And the temptation will be great to listen to the mantras and the dirt spewing forth.

Please, instead of being offended by personalities, decide where you stand on certain policies. Try to steer clear of a stampeding animal herd mentality. Each candidate represents clearly distinct policy issues on topics such as government regulation of the private business sector; the survivability of mounting costs to individuals; America's deployment in foreign wars; time limits on an abortion decision; unregulated admission of worldwide non-citizens into the U.S. interior; the source of, and proper response to, global warming; and does American opportunity mean equal opportunity or equal outcome?

Also, the importance of the development and use of fossil fuels to our civilization and trusting humanity to make the right choice when given all the information.

Cut to the chase. Decide where you stand on policy issues and vote accordingly. There is cause and effect in the universe. A happy life is not magic. Lemmings are not happy campers.
