Tempe nonprofit receives $3,500 grant thanks to Arizona Gives Day

Posted

Arizona Gives Day granted an additional $180,000 to Arizona nonprofits as part of its annual prize pool, boosting the results for nonprofits statewide.

More than 1,000 nonprofits registered to be part of the annual day of giving, and all registered nonprofits had an opportunity to win one of the 128 prizes totaling $180,000, a press release explained.

The full list of grant awardees can be viewed here, but Tempe nonprofit Animal Loving Friend received the maximum grant of $3,500 in the category of Most Dollars Raised, Micro Nonprofit.

Arizona residents donated more than $5.3 million to almost 900 Arizona nonprofits as part of the 2024 Arizona Gives Day, the release stated.  With this year’s total, Arizona Gives Day has now generated more than $47 million for Arizona nonprofits over the past decade. The event, which is presented by AZ Impact for Good, also raised more than $5.3 million in 2023.

More than 27,300 donations were made to 893 of the 1,033 participating nonprofits to bring the grand total raised since the event began in 2013 to $47,005,000. The average amount of money raised per organization was $2,734 with the average online donation at $157.28, according to the release.

Also during the event, 1,268 volunteers pledged a total of 58,943 hours to their favorite nonprofit organizations.

“We are very pleased with the results this year and the strong commitment from Arizona residents to the nonprofit community,” Chief Impact Officer for AZ Impact for Good Jennifer Purcell stated in the release. “After seeing a decline post-pandemic in charitable giving, it’s encouraging that this year’s event had a strong showing in fundraising.”

Arizona Gives Day sponsors include Arizona Community Foundation, The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation, The Burton Family Foundation, Freeport McMoRan Foundation, Hickey Family Foundation, Vitalyst Health Foundation, Thunderbirds Charities and Phoenix Magazine.
