Kids Club Surprise gets $50K in funding

A Surprise before- and after-school program in the Original Town Site will be expanding thanks to a $50,000 gift.
Kids Club Surprise will be able to serve up to 50% more youth thanks funding from Chandler-based DCS Contracting that will allow for expanded busing capacity.
Kids Club Surprise offers low-cost programming for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade at city and county facilities in partnership with local nonprofit Dysart Community Center. It includes a free daily meal, homework assistance, arts and crafts projects, physical activities, personal development group activities, as well as recreation time for board and video games.
“Being able to offer our community a very low cost before- and after-school program with a strong curriculum and positive environment is an absolute win,” says city of Surprise Human Service & Community Vitality Department Director Seth Dyson. “I am thankful that this gift will provide additional funding and more families will have the opportunity to participate in this impactful program.”
The Kids Club is held in the community room at Heritage Housing, 12669 W. Rimrock in Surprise.
Funding from DCS Contracting will be gifted as $10,000 per year for five years and will expand transportation to and from Kids Club Surprise.
“Transportation is the single biggest challenge facing our before- and after-school programs, and the additional funds will be a great way to grow our existing bus capacity,” says Dysart Community Center CEO Annie Ansell.
“DCS Contracting is committed to giving back in the communities where we build,” says Brandon Byrne, President/General Manager of Construction for DCS Contracting. “We believe in being good corporate citizens and supporting our neighborhoods.”
