Hall prepares for final State of City address as Surprise mayor

Posted

This year’s State of the City event in Surprise will be much like the other’s Skip Hall has addressed over his six years as mayor.

The only difference is this year will be Hall’s last.

The one-full-term mayor has decided to not run for reelection this year, meaning the event at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza, will be the final address he gives at one of these events before his term ends in December.

The event will include a video presentation about the city’s accomplishments in the last year and future projects.

Music and appetizers will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m., with the video set to premiere in Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.

From 7 to 8 p.m., police and fire vehicle displays will be part of a city showcase, featuring snacks, entertainment and a showcase of city programs and services on the first floor of City Hall.

For those who can’t make it to the event in person, the State of the City video premiere will also be carried live and rebroadcast on Surprise TV and at surpriseaz.gov/surprisetv. The city’s Facebook page will also live stream it.

The city has also created a webpage at surpriseaz.gov/SOTC.
