Ryan Winslett grew up splitting his time between Athens, Georgia, and Globe. In college he worked for the student-run publication, The Lumberjack, while attending Northern Arizona University and was hired fresh out of college at The Fountain Hills Times, which was acquired by the Independent in July 2023.
He started as sports/schools reporter and is now managing editor of the North Valley, which includes Scottsdale and Town of Paradise Valley.
He also has spent over a decade doing freelance work, primarily covering the video game industry. He lives with my partner of nearly two decades, Jennifer Mintzer.
