Q&A: Pinnacle Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Glendale

Posted
  • Name: Pinnacle Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (PBJJ)
  • Founded: 2022
  • Town/Neighborhood: North Phoenix/Glendale, 23425 N. 39th Drive, Unit 104, 85310
  • Hours of operation: Monday-Thursday, varying class times. Youth and adult classes.

Personal background:

We are owned by a partnership of four friends who own several other small businesses in the Valley. These owners are personally involved in the day-to-day operations of Pinnacle and are bonded by their common love for BJJ as a tool for personal improvement and building community. Helping others is a passion for the owners, Tony and Tracy Nolan, Dr. Ken Ota, and Albert Abril.

Professional background:

As the need arose for an additional BJJ Instructor, PBJJ added Alef Brito to its team, a high-level black belt who is active in the international BJJ competition circuit. He was born and raised in Brazil and has been training BJJ for more than 15 years. He was a world champion at the rank of brown belt and hopes to earn that title once again as a black belt. At this time he is ranked in the Top 100 BJJ black belts in the world.

What we’re excited about and why:

We pride ourselves on fostering an environment that is appealing to all personalities and backgrounds. Blue collar, white collar, students, veterans, cops, firefighters, computer programmers, moms, dads, grandpas, teens, doctors, lawyers, mechanics, groomers, salespeople, etc. You’ll find them on our mats with a smile on their face. We have a no pressure policy. You train at your own pace.

Community cause and why:

We have tremendous respect for military veterans and public servants. Not only do we partner with WeDefy Foundation, who provide scholarships for disabled veterans to train BJJ, but we also offer 20% discounts for veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS workers.
