Glendale and Phoenix police are investigating a carjacking and shooting that occurred early Friday morning across both cities.

According to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Scott Waite, officers responded to the area of 61st Avenue and Bethany Home Road at about 1:30 a.m. in regards to a gun shot wound. Police found a man in his 20's who had been shot one time.

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries. The Glendale Fire Department treated and transported him to a local hospital.

The man and a witness told police they were driving on 67thh Avenue, between Camelback and Missouri roads, when someone in a tan four-door sedan shot at them. They did not know the suspects or motive.

Glendale police learned at 4 a.m. that the Phoenix Police Department had possibly found the vehicle and tried to stop it around 107th and San Miguel avenues, west of the Loop 101 near Camelback Ranch-Glendale stadium. The vehicle stopped in a ditch and the occupants fled on foot.

Phoenix police set up a perimeter and Glendale officers are assisting the investigation.

According to Sgt. Scott Waite, the suspect vehicle may be tied to a carjacking prior to the shooting in Glendale.
