A deal is a deal and Florence Mayor Tara Walter held up her end during Monday's town council meeting.
Before Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 27, Walter announced a friendly bet with Mary Condon, mayor of Florence, Texas.
If the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series, Condon agreed to wear a Diamondbacks hat during her next council meeting following the series.
Of course, if the Texas Rangers took the series, Walter agreed to don a Rangers hat during her next town council meeting following the series, which happened to be Monday.
Well, we all know the outcome of the World Series and Walter kept her promise.
Walter released the following letter:
"Dear Texas Rangers,
On behalf of the town of Florence, Arizona I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your incredible victory in the World Series! I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the friendly wager made with Mayor Mary Condon of Florence, Texas. I will be wearing a Texas Rangers hat during the next council meeting following the World Series, as promised. This friendly competition only serves to highlight the strong bonds of camaraderie and support that exist between our communities, and I look forward to finding new and creative ways to foster these relationships in the future. Once again, congratulations to the Texas Rangers on an outstanding season."
Before the council meeting started, Walter put on the Rangers ball cap and wore it throughout the more than two-hour meeting.
