Brown named EVIT Education Foundation executive director

Posted

Denny Brown has been selected as the new executive director for the East Valley Institute of Technology Education Foundation.

Brown has a background in leadership and community service including tenure with the Scottsdale Unified School District governing board, the Scottsdale Human Services Commission and the EVIT Education Foundation Board of Directors, according to a release.

“I am excited to help lead the EVIT Educational Foundation into its third decade of service to students with needs. By removing financial barriers, we enhance workforce opportunities for students and better serve our business community and citizens in the East Valley.“ Brown said in the release.

EVIT is a public school that provides tuition-free career and technical training to high school students from 11 districts and tuition-based training to adults at two central campuses in Mesa and a branch campus at Apache Junction High School. Programs provide students licensing and certification, internship opportunities and dual-enrollment opportunities for college credit.

The EVIT Education Foundation was established 20 years ago to provide financial support for high school students who are unable to cover program and certification fees associated with the school’s two-year career- or technical-training programs, according to Evitfoundation.org.

Upcoming EVIT Education Foundation events include:

  • The annual EVIT Education Foundation fundraising breakfast Nov. 8. Desert Financial and Chapman Automotive Group are the platinum sponsors for the breakfast.
  • On May 1, 2024, the foundation and the school will host the Fiesta Bowl-sponsored Signing Day where students with upcoming job offers will officially accept their new positions.
