Arizona Cardinals hosting blood drive at State Farm Stadium

The Arizona Cardinals and two health groups are teaming up to host a one-day blood drive.

Dignity Health and Cigna will join the Cardinals 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday at State Farm Stadium for the drive.

As of Friday morning, all appointment slots for Tuesday were  filled in less than 24 hours.

Only those who have registered in advance and have a confirmed appointment time will be able to donate Tuesday. Unfortunately, walk-ups cannot logistically be accommodated.

“The enthusiastic and immediate response from the community for this blood drive has been overwhelming,” Cardinals President Michael Bidwell stated. “We are so grateful to those who have registered to donate as well as to our partners at Cigna and Dignity Health and to Vitalant for hosting Tuesday’s event.”

While that blood drive is full, people are still encouraged to seek out other opportunities to donate.

Since March 19, nearly 200 Arizona blood drives have been canceled, resulting in the loss of more than 5,000 blood donations for hospital patients, according to Vitalant.

Officials said it is critical for healthy eligible Americans to give blood. The U.S. Surgeon General and FEMA have declared blood donation as an essential function that cannot be disrupted.

Schedule an appointment at www.vitalant.org or 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825).
