50 Peoria kids will get to 'Shop With A Cop' for the holidays

Dozens of kids will have the opportunity to 'Shop With A Cop' for the holidays.
The Peoria Police Department has announced the Peoria Police Officers Association’s annual Shop With A Cop event.
This event is organized and brought together by the fundraising efforts of the P.P.O.A., along with support of several community partners and the Peoria Police Department.
This event, scheduled for Saturday Dec. 9, allows police department employees to take less fortunate children from the community to a local department store to purchase gifts of all kinds for themselves and their families for the holiday season.
Children will be paired with police department employees and the event is kicked off at the police department with Santa’s arrival and a bike raffle. Children and officers will leave for Chick-Fil-A, 16657 N. 83rd Ave., where they will have breakfast and visit with Santa. Then they will go to Kohl’s for shopping.
Officers will caravan the children in police vehicles, with lights and sirens, into the Kohl’s parking lot, 10072 W. Happy Valley Rd., where Santa will greet them as they arrive. There will also be bounce houses, gift-wrapping and pizza party.
