Less than 100 new COVID-19 cases mapped to Scottsdale last week

As August ends, Scottsdale is reporting its smallest increase of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, with less than 80 new positive cases reported in the past seven days.
In total, 5,454 total cases of COVID-19 mapped to Scottsdale’s nin ZIP Codes were reported by the Arizona Department of Health Services on Aug. 31.
This is an increase of 76 newly reported positive cases from a week ago, on Aug. 24, when the area was home to 5,378 cases. Weeks prior saw increases between 128-346.
More than 90% of cases were mapped to the address of the patient’s residence. If the patient’s address was unknown the case was mapped to the address of the provider followed by the address of the reporting facility, according to the ADHS.
Data available through ADHS shows cases per ZIP code are reported as:
85257: 1,083 cases;
85251: 1,383 cases;
85250: 322 cases;
85258: 436 cases;
85260: 805 cases;
85259: 365 cases;
85255: 796 cases;
85266: 155 cases; and
85262: 109 cases.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
