Queen Creek's newest park will be holding its grand-opening celebration in less than a month.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at Frontier Family Park will be at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8 at 20039 S. 220th St. on the southwest corner of Ryan and Signal Butte roads. Festivities at the park will run from 8 to 10 a.m.
The 85-acre Frontier Family Park has a variety of amenities such as an inclusive play area, a fishing lake, lighted ball fields, picnic areas, splash pad and basketball and sand volleyball courts. The park also features 24 pickleball courts, and a 1.5-mile multiuse path that will span the perimeter of the park.
A recreation and aquatic center located at the park is still under construction and will include an indoor recreation center with various sport courts such as basketball, volleyball and pickleball. It will also have a fitness area, teen room, childcare and classrooms.
The outdoor aquatic center will include a zero-depth entry play pool, competition/lap pool, lazy river and slides. There will be shared space for locker rooms.
Queen Creek broke ground on the recreation and aquatic center in May 2023 and placed the final beam on the building in March. The center is set to open later this year or early next.
