Dr. Helen Hunter, Sharon Girard featured speakers at San Tan Valley Democrats Sept. 19 meeting

The San Tan Valley Democrats meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, features two women running for the Arizona State House.
Their life experiences are relevant to major news themes this year, according to a release.
Dr. Helen Hunter is a community organizer, social justice advocate, seasoned pastor, board-certified chaplain and businesswoman. She served on the Mesa Police Department Use of Force Committee and as president of the East Valley NAACP. She is a candidate in District 16, which includes part of Queen Creek in Pinal County, Gold Canyon, Apache Junction and east Mesa.
Sharon Girard practiced as a physicians assistant for 30 years. She spent decades working in emergency rooms in small rural communities and helped introduce the PA profession to the UK. She is a candidate in District 8, which includes most of Pinal County and reaches up to Globe.
