Princeton, N.J. — After consistent performances during the 2023-24 season, Princeton’s Riccardo Fantinelli (Player of the Year) and Paradise Valley resident Charlie Palmer (Rookie of the Year) earned Ivy League postseason major awards following a vote by the league’s seven head coaches. In addition, Yale’s Keith Tyburski was unanimously voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

Palmer was part of the Brophy College Prepartory Class of 2023. He had a solid first year at Princeton and was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, according to a press release.

Palmer had two top-12 finishes this season, the first in his collegiate debut as the USF Howard Intercollegiate, where he finished 10th out of 80 participants with a score of -6 (74-66-70). Palmer also was a key piece of Princeton’s victory at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate where he had a 12th place finish after rallying for a round of 67 in his best round of the season.

At the Ivy League championship, Palmer’s best round came in round two with an even-par 71 as Princeton finished second in the event. Finally, Palmer had his first-ever hole-in-one in Princeton’s home invitational on Springdale Golf Club’s 13th hole.

With Palmer’s recognition, Princeton has won the Ivy League Rookie of the Year award four consecutive times.

Yale won the 2024 Ivy League men’s golf championship at Watchung Valley Golf Club last week, recording a three-day total of 843 (286-282-275) for a score of nine-under-par, besting second-place Princeton by three strokes, the release stated. Earlier on in the year, Yale won the Alex Lagowitz Memorial (1st/13 teams), Macdonald Cup (1st/12 teams) and was also second in the Roar-EE Invitational out of 13 teams.

In addition to the major postseason awards, the All-Ivy teams were awarded following the men’s golf championship. The All-Ivy teams are based on the results from the three-day event.
