Apache Junction Unified School District’s Life Skills students from Apache Junction High School recently participated in an annual tradition of community engagement.

This year, as in previous years, the students took on the responsibility of unpacking medals for the Lost Dutchman Marathon scheduled for Feb. 18.

In a display of dedication to the beloved Lost Dutchman Marathon event, the students diligently removed packaging from medals, ensuring a seamless experience for participants. This annual initiative not only reflects the ongoing commitment of the students to community service but also reinforces the enduring connection between AJUSD and the local community, according to a release.

Lisa Ginn, principal of Apache Junction High School, expressed her appreciation for the students’ consistent involvement, stating, “The Life Skills students at AJHS showcase their commitment to community service year after year. Unpacking medals for the Lost Dutchman race is a tradition for them, embodying the values of giving back and actively participating in the success of a significant event in Apache Junction.”

The Lost Dutchman Marathon holds a special place in the hearts of AJ residents, and AJHS students are proud to contribute to its success annually, the release states.

“AJUSD is dedicated to fostering a culture of consistent community engagement, and we look forward to the continued tradition of collaboration that uplifts both our schools and the vibrant community we proudly serve,” it states in the release.
