U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko announced the winners of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District on Oct. 16.

“It is an honor to recognize the wonderful young artists throughout our district,” Ms. Lesko said. “We are so fortunate to have so many young people interested in the arts and I am so impressed by their talents. I offer my congratulations to the winners and my thanks to all who participated in this year’s competition.”

Evie Nguyen of Glendale is the first-place winner for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for Lesko’s district with her charcoal piece, “Mutual.” Evie is a 12th grade student at Deer Valley High School.

In third place is Destiny Banda, a seventh-grade student from West Point Elementary School in Surprise with her watercolor painting entitled “Colors of the Desert.”

The piece will be displayed in Congresswoman Lesko’s Surprise District Office for one year.

Students interested in participating in the 2021 competition can contact Lesko’s Surprise District Office at 623-776-7911.
