When it came time for Pam McClarin to make the transition to a senior living property, she knew El Dorado of Sun City was the place she wanted to call home, and she has for the past three years. After visiting six various properties, Ms. McClarin was aware of her options, but insists El Dorado was it: the place for luxury senior living.

“One of the reasons I loved it is because it is an investment. You own your condo rather than flushing money down the toilet,” she said. “But more than that, the cleanliness here is amazing and they take such good care of it.”

Ms. McClarin said when something needs to be refurbished, it is taken care of and said the staff has a history with the property, some for close to 30 years.

“This really is the most amazing place and I just love it,” Ms. McClarin said. “As a woman who lives alone I feel very safe and always know there is someone I can call if I do need help.”

One amenity of El Dorado is the registered nurse on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which Laurel Pracht who has lived in her home since December 2019 with her husband Bob, experienced while completing a home task.

“I was doing some filter changes and I must have brushed my leg on the emergency cord in the bathroom and soon after security and the registered nurse showed up thinking I had fallen,” Ms. Pracht said. “It was reassuring knowing how responsive they were.”

Amenities include weekly housekeeping with flat linen service, chauffeur services, valet service, room service, covered parking, golf car parking, golf club storage, exercise classes designed for seniors and fitness center, billiards and card rooms, a TV lounge, lakeside lounges, beauty and barber shop, storage bins, emergency call system, in-house television channel, Cox high definition cable TV, water and garbage, WiFi in common area and 24 hour on-site security.

The Prachts did not look at other properties, as El Dorado  was the only option to own the property.

“That was a big factor for us not to be renters,” she said.

Ms. Pracht transitioned from a single-family home where they made all the decisions for the home, which is the case inside the front door. The home is half the square footage of the previous place, but the couple adapted and made it into their own.

“We are not your typical people here as we are younger and have done all our own remodeling,” she said.

Ms. Pracht said transportation to the airport is important to her for work travel, saying to have someone there who is reliable and always there is really helpful.

The Heart Center at Banner Boswell, located across the street from El Dorado,El Dorado has been nationally recognized for its care and expertise in cardiovascular preventive care, diagnostic services, medical and surgical treatment and rehabilitation. Banner Boswell Medical Center was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, a leading national health care research and quality assessment organization.

Rates at El Dorado are determined by the community board comprised of homeowners, and there are reserve funds in place for requisite maintenance of all common areas, all to avoid unexpected costs to residents. El Dorado residents have never had a special assessment. El Dorado food services department and its executive chef prepares thousands of meals each month. The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outdoor dining next to the pool is also available, weather permitting. There is also a private dining room available for residents’ use.

All El Dorado residents are members of the Sun City Recreation Centers and have access to seven recreation centers, eight golf courses, two bowling alleys and a wide array of clubs and other activities. Located on 7.5 acres, El Dorado includes a pool and spa for residents. There are also two gazebos in the center courtyards, and one in the Secret Garden. Other El Dorado amenities include a newly-decorated exercise room, a library, art gallery, emergency call systems in the condominiums, an airport shuttle service, a koi pond, and even fishing on Viewpoint Lake is available.

El Dorado, located directly across from Banner Boswell Medical Campus and on Viewpoint Lake, is a three-story, mission style resort and condominium retirement community. There are 220 one- and two bedroom condominiums that provide homeowners with the benefit of condominium ownership. A variety of one and two- bedroom resale units are available.
