REILLY: Residents want to meet artist to verify

Posted

In response to my husband’s letter (“Was it artist sealing rocks from yard?” Sun City West Independent, May 20, 2020), both my husband and I read Suzanne Hendershot’s article of reply (“Letter writer tries to undo kindness,” Sun City West Independent, May 20, 2020).

Ms. Hendershot stated that my husband described “an older woman with short white hair and a white golf car.” My husband’s exact quote was, “an older woman with short hair trespassing on our golf course property.” My husband later mentioned the trespasser’s “white golf car…” My husband didn’t mention the hair color of the trespasser. However, I recall a late-50 early-60 year old woman with short salt and pepper hair. I could easily identify her if I saw her again in person. Would you be willing to meet me?

The golf car that we saw was similar to the one in the published picture. We couldn’t see the Arizona plate.

Ms. Hendershot suggests that what happened on our property was an “alleged experience in close time proximity to the article about my hand painted kindness rocks.” The incident happened the night before the article was published! Ms. Hendershot finally reports her denial, about half way through her article, that, “It was not me.” If that’s the case, how is it that you seem to know where the incident occurred? Ms. Hendershot, you wrote, “It is my hope that his effort in trying to embarrass the woman who was at his yard’s edge…” How, Ms. Hendershot, do you know that the incident actually occurred at our yard’s edge, when my husband wrote in his article that the incident happened in “our flower bed?”

We’d love to meet you in person so that we could get this incident resolved and remove any “shadow of doubt.”
