Koll: Drivers are getting out of control

Posted

From my observations, driver infractions are getting out of control.

I see speeds on Loop 101 work zones, Grand Avenue, R.H. Johnson Boulevard, Bell Road and Meeker Boulevard sometimes more then 10 miles per hour over the limit. I feel for the safety of the children, pedestrians and bike riders. Red lights are being challenged and violated. Stop signs are no longer stop or “California” stop, just drive through. I feel for the children and pedestrians — especially in school zones. Proper signaling on lane and direction changes is becoming non-existent. Inattention from cell phone use is still common.

As I observe on today’s roadways, speed limit posting is becoming obsolete as I have seen with driver behavior. I feel for the children, pedestrians, bikers and, more important, worker safety, especially speeds of 65-70 in 55 mph work zones.
