FREDRICK: New officers should do what old would not

Posted

As always, I enjoy reading comments and offering comments.

However, I do think you should limit some comments. Regarding the letter from Suzanne Arnopolin (“Reader angered by tone of letter, editing,” Sun City West Independent, May 27, 2020), she went on and on and on — I thought she would never stop. So she is angered, fine. So who cares she is angered? Does this person ever stop? It was like reading ‘War and Peace’! I had enough, I found the off switch and turned it off.

Other than that, I will be brief.

Since the Recreation Centers of Sun City West notably refused to refund some monies due to the clubs and facilities being closed, they have the nerve to increase our dues $17 per year. I would like to see the new officers for the fiscal year starting July 1 (President George Kuchtak, Vice President Sue Fitzsimons, Treasurer Anne Brown and Secretary Donna Maloney) do what the outdoing officers refused to do. I would like them to cancel the new rate increase of $17 yearly.

If the new officers refuse to take action, I suggest the RCSCW membership immediately start a recall on these newly elected officers. They were elected to serve us, to take care of the membership. If they say it can’t be done, then let’s get new membership that have a can do and willing to do attitude. Practice what they were elected to do — to serve the membership.

It is difficult for me to think the costs were the same during the time when the facilities were closed as when they are open. If this is the case, then the departing officers should have been recalled. If the newly elected officials fail to serve the membership, they too should be recalled. What Sun City West membership needs is having leaders, not followers.
