Brucher: Expand use to attract younger people

Posted

Why not embrace more technology?

My wife and I moved to Sun City West last year, after I turned 55. We chose this community for many reasons, one of them being the beautiful mature trees and landscaping. Please keep the palm trees!

Oscar Wilde said, “The cynic knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing.” It’s not just about shade.

Now, regarding the fitness centers reopening, why don’t we have the IT/computer folks put a signup form on the website? Not just for COVID-19, but also going forward. An excellent example is greatclips.com.

This would free up human resources, saving time and money.

Why are you requiring people to sign up in person the day before they work out while we’re being told to limit in-person contact during the pandemic? And we’re short-handed employees, right? Why waste members time driving there, and employees time checking each person in?

Anyone without access to the Internet can choose to sign up in-person. But to increase the face-to-face interactions during the biggest health crisis of the century seems reckless.

If we want to attract more, younger people, then the use of technology needs to be expanded. Now is the time to do it!
