BackBeat band to bring rock sounds to charity event

Combo will perform at SCW pickleball drop

BackBeat, a rock and roll dance band, will perform 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 as part of the annual Sun City West Pickleball Charity Drop at the Palm Ridge Rec Center courts, 13800 W. Deer Valley Drive.

The band features Sun City West residents Linda Marman (keyboard, vocals), Ellie Chaffee (lead, harmony vocals), Bill Walance (bass), Tony Miller (guitar, vocals), Tim Polizzi (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and El Mirage’s Todd Kruger (percussion, drums).

All members have years of experience performing with numerous bands of various genres including folk, bluegrass and rock and roll. They play rock favorites from the 50s to the latest current hits like “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Surfin USA,” “Proud Mary,” “Sweet Caroline,” “X’s and O’s” and more.

Ms. Marman, Ms. Chaffee and Mr. Polizzi also perform locally in the Beatles tribute band With A Little Help From My Friends.
