Arnot: Resident sets record straight about concern

Posted

To set the record straight and to respond to Mr. Frank Bagnato (“Accusation about resident was wrong,” Sun City West Independent, Feb. 3, 2021) and Ms. Patricia Leopold (“Resident offers other side of flag letter,” Sun City West Independent, Feb. 3, 2021), here are the facts relating to my original letter to the Independent sharing my discomfort and disappointment in seeing the foremost symbol of our country, the United States flag, flying upside down on a high flagpole in Sun City West.

I was not driving in a car with a Caldwell Banker Real Estate Sign as was stated by Ms. Leopold when I observed the United States flag flying upside down. This was an unfair statement and somewhat accusatory toward a business that is in no way connected to my observation. I was not met at the door by Mr. Leopold’s neighbor; that statement is quite wrong. Many people walk and ride bikes in Sun City West for exercise and wellbeing.

In closure, if Mr. Bagnato, or any other resident of Sun City West, elects to fly the United States flag upside down that is his choice, sadly. Perhaps an effort to bring continued unity and calm to our neighborhood would be time better spent.

It is usually more beneficial to relate facts rather than assumptions and false statements.
