Williams: It is required to blow horns for safety

Posted

Regarding the train noises, trains are required to sound their horns at all railroad crossings.

This is to protect people in their cars, pedestrians on foot, bikes or motorcycles. I grew up in a railroad town. Nearly all the men worked on the railroad. When we heard trains my mother would say, “That’s your Daddy working.”

It was a New Years tradition for them to blow all whistles at midnight. We stayed up to hear them. We could always hear sounds from the trains but we liked them.

Please try to understand that trains are a vital part of our nation’s economy, more important than your aversion to their sounds. Trains are never going to be gone and will always make noise.

Move or quit complaining. I am tired of reading your uninformed opinions.
