William (Bill) Doherty

William passed away peacefully on September 26 at the Comfort Care Home, LLC, Peoria, AZ after a long battle with heart disease.
The son of Daniel and Anne (Barry) Doherty, Bill was born and raised in Boston, MA along with four sisters and two brothers, the late Claire Lydon, Rita Loring, Donald Doherty and Anne Todesca.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Pamela Van Schelt and brother, Paul Doherty.
Bill was married to the love of his life, Inga, for 40 years. Inga passed away in 2010 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Bill, a true patriot, attempted to enlist in 1945 but did not get called until 1946. He enlisted in the Army Air Force and served honorably for 20 year until his retirement in 1966 as a Chief Master Sergeant in the US Air Force.
Bill has resided in Scottsdale and Sun City, AZ for the past 40 years. He worked in several jobs since retirement from the USAF using his skills as a master radar technician learned during his years of service. In recent years he volunteered as treasurer for the West Side Tremble Clefts, and occasionally sang an Irish ditty or two with the choir. He also volunteered at Sun Health Resale Boutique and was a long-time member of the German American Karneval Society.
