The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of two men after they felt an electrical current in the water at a marina on Lake Pleasant.

MCSO said they responded to reports of an unknown trouble around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Scorpion Bay Marina. 

According to witnesses, there were two brothers and their wives who were out on their boat at the lake Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday night, MCSO said Timothy Miller, 53, entered the water next to their boat when he began to have issues and went underwater. His brother Michael Miller, 50, jumped in to help but he also began experiencing a similar reaction.

"An additional person entered the water to help and once again experienced what was later described symptoms similar to electrical current in the water," said MCSO, clarifying that the additional person was one of the men's wives.

Bystanders then pulled Michael Miller and the woman out of the water and started performing CPR.

Michael Miller was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After monitoring the lake for hazards, dive teams searched for Timothy Millers body. MCSO said they recovered it around 1 a.m. Monday from underneath the deck area where their boat was docked.

MCSO clarified that only three people were affected by the reported current: the Miller brothers who died, and one of the wives, who sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of death for Timothy and Michael Miller will be determined by the medical examiner.
