Police arrested a man who allegedly shot and killed another man at a Phoenix motel two months ago.

Police responded to a motel room near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street on Nov. 29 after someone reported hearing shots fired. Officers arrived and found a man with gunshot wounds.

Fire personnel arrived and pronounced Freddie L. Stewart, 30, dead at the scene. Police found a revolver in his waistband, records state.

On Dec. 23, a witness reported seeing Mr. Stewart and Antoine Jones, 31, in an argument inside the motel room.

Another witness on Tuesday told police that Mr. Jones shot Mr. Stewart.

On Wednesday, police contacted Mr. Jones, who allegedly admitted to being in the area on Thanksgiving Day, but denied shooting Mr. Stewart.

Detectives on that day arrested Mr. Jones, of Gila River, on one count of second-degree murder.

He was jailed in lieu of a $1 million bond.
