Peoria police officer arrested, internal investigation underway

Posted

Peoria Police Officer Kevin Daniel Moe, 35, was arrested by the Surprise Police Department for an alleged domestic violence related incident, according to a news release.

Officials with the Surprise Police Department are handling the criminal investigation while Peoria police have started their own internal investigation.

Mr. Moe was placed on administrative leave immediately after the department was notified. He will remain on administrative leave at least until the completion of the internal investigation.

Spokesman Brandon Sheffert said Peoria police hold all members of the department to the highest standards and thoroughly investigate all incidents of alleged misconduct.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, he was booked Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Court documents show Mr. Moe argued with the female victim at their house in Surprise and he allegedly pushed the woman to the floor, causing her to suffer a broken left arm.

Police said Mr. Moe told officers he pushed the victim because she was throwing items around the kitchen.
