With the election on the horizon, local voters will chose from nine candidates to fill three seats on the Peoria Unified School District school board.

Now that the COVID-19 pandemic touches all aspects of life, especially education, the board will be inundated with tough decisions in the coming years.

The three seats up for grabs are currently held by Monica Ceja Martinez, David Sandoval and Judy Doane.

Mr. Sandoval is seeking re-election, while Ms. Ceja Martinez and Ms. Doane have chosen not to run.

The following candidates say they are up to the challenge of leading during a new normal: Linda Busam, Kacie Franklin, Rebecca Hill, Kirk Hobbs, Mr. Sandoval, Davita Solter, William Sorensen, Devon Updegraff-Day and CJ Williams.

Over the next week and a half, the Peoria Independent will feature each candidate.

This series will begin, Sept. 11.
