Posted
Authorities found their Silver Alert subject when she crashed into a pond in Surprise.
Karen Hubert Strong, 77, had been missing since 1 p.m. Monday when she failed to stop at a senior living facility in Sun City West. She had been following her son there, but she continued driving after he had pulled into the parking lot.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office released information on her and her vehicle, and a Silver Alert was issued late Monday night.
On Tuesday morning, Surprise police responded to a collision near Bell Road and Bullard Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle into a pond. The driver was able to get out on her own before first responders arrived.
Surprise police said the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and came to a stop half-submerged into a shallow community pond.
Authorities determined the driver to be Ms. Strong. MCSO stated she will be okay and was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
