In a tribute to healthcare workers at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale, first responders lined the emergency room walkway there on May 11 and applauded for them.
“I’ve walked through it a few times and it is a great sense of gratitude,” Dr. Matthew Keeler, Banner Thunderbird ER medical doctor, said in a video on the Glendale Fire Department’s Facebook page. “It boosts your morale coming into work.”
Glendale police and fire, and Peoria police and fire as well as Maricopa and AMR EMTs came out to show appreciation.
“We’re just trying to show them how much we appreciate them; not only us but the community,” Glendale Police Sgt. Randy Stewart explained in the video, “and everything that they’re doing for us, and that their sacrifice is not going unnoticed.”
The healthcare workers also had a reminder for the public.
“Most importantly to protect themselves,” Banner Thunderbird RN Shelby Aldrich noted in the video. “Obviously proper hand hygiene is huge. Continue the social distancing as much as we can.”
