Edelstein: Romantic month ends with laughs

Posted

February is the most romantic month of the year. Hopefully Valentine’s Day brought a smile to everyone’s face — even though we still can’t see those beautiful smiles.

We’ve celebrated Presidents Day, Mardi Gras and now we have St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Passover to look forward to.

As 2021 begins with historic snow storms across most of the country, we are welcoming back spring training and have temps in the 70s. Life here in Surprise is good.

Saturday, Feb. 27 brings Bill Engvall to The Vista for the return of my No. 1 entertainment destination. Tickets are available at the box office and online atTheVistaAZ.com.

The spring lineup of talent is exciting, and I’m already planning for Sunday, April 25 to see The Drifters. Nothing makes me happier than oldies music. Growing up in the ’50s was such a unique experience.

I am so happy I was a part of a show business family, and then years later my brother opened a record store in the French Quarter of New Orleans. He was also a great artist-a talent which I definitely do not possess.

So, that leads me to my love of the West Valley Arts Council and WHAM. Both galleries are extraordinary. The exhibits are not to be missed.

West Valley Arts (at Arts HQ) is celebrating Black History month until Friday, March 5, with a brand new show opening on Friday, March 12 — Vanguard Artists, with an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Please RSVP.

WHAM’s “Beaches, Deserts, Blooms” runs through Sunday, Feb. 28. Following that on Friday, April 2 you must be there for the eighth annual Recycle Fashion Show and Art Festival.

Please join me in supporting the arts in Surprise. For those of you who shop on Amazon and at Frys you can add WHAM to your rewards accounts and they will receive a donation from each purchase.

I invite you to enjoy all that Surprise has to offer. Check out theses venues:
