Brothers sentenced to prison in Glendale homicide, third suspect still missing

A pair of brothers have been sentenced to 17-plus years in prison for their roles in a Glendale murder, with a third suspect still at-large.
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Monday that Israel Carrasco, 22, and Enrique Luna, 24, were sentenced to 17 and 23 years in prison, respectively, for the 2016 murder of Christopher Gonzales Cummings, 21.
In January 2016, the brothers and a third suspect — who is still at large — went to Mr. Cummings' Glendale apartment to rob him. Authorities said Mr. Luna and Mr. Carrasco entered into Mr. Cummings' bedroom while the third suspect held two adults and their baby at gun point. Moments later, Mr. Cummings was shot and killed.
Authorities said the case was unsolved for almost a year until a defendant — in a separate criminal case under investigation at the AG's Office — came forward claiming he had information regarding Mr. Cummings' murder. The defendant provided a significant amount of evidence, including the murder weapon, which helped the AG's Office and the Glendale Police Department identify Mr. Carrasco and Mr. Luna as suspects. Both were arrested in 2017.
Mr. Luna admitted to shooting and killing Mr. Cummings, while Mr. Carrasco admitted to entering the home with a gun to rob the victim. In October 2019, both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
"Anyone with information related to the identity of the third suspect in this murder should contact Glendale Police or Silent Witness immediately," Mr. Brnovich stated.
Judge George Foster sentenced the brothers in November, with Mr. Luna also serving another term for armed robbery and aggravated assault.
