Betty Jane (Jessen) Jett

Betty, 97, born January 7, 1923 went home to be ·with the Lord, on January 16, 2020. She was being cared for at the Majestic Villa Assisted Living home in Glendale AZ.

She was the widow of Paul Jett since 1999. She was married previously to Robert Myers. They had one child Vicki Lee Myers, and one grandchild Jeffery Myers. Betty’s daughter preceded her in death. Also preceded in death by sister Bernice Smith. Survived by one second-cousin Michelle Fagella.

Betty Jane was born in Battle Creek, IA. Betty’s mother died when Betty was just a few weeks old so she was fostered and raised on a farm by her aunt and uncle, Ada and John Janssen.

During World War II, Betty, went to work in a factory where munitions and war supplies were produced, she was part of the iconic “Rosie the Riveter”. When the war ended, she was hired by McDonnell Douglas, which is now Boeing.

Betty was a proficient, talented artist and member of International Porcelain art teachers, Inc. She was also, a member of the world Organization of China Teachers. She created many beautiful pieces of Porcelain Art.

Internment Service will be at 10 a.m. on January 30, 2020 at American Lutheran Church, Sun City, AZ.
