Arizona tops 5,750 deaths of COVID-19

Arizona has added 894 cases and 13 deaths of COVID-19 overnight, according to the state Department of Health Services.

As of the morning of Saturday, Oct. 10, the ADHS reports 224,978 positive cases and 5,759 deaths of the new coronavirus.

Total deaths due to COVID-19 by county, as of the morning of Oct. 10, are as follows. Data will not be shown for counties with fewer than three deaths:

  • Maricopa County: 3,466
  • Pinal County: 212

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
