Scottsdale police identify skateboarder in fatal collision

An 18-year-old skateboarding west on Shea Boulevard was struck by a vehicle and killed just after midnight in Scottsdale, police officials say.
At approximately 12:09 a.m. Aug. 6, Scottsdale Police Department officers responded to a fatal car versus pedestrian collision at 128th Street and Shea Boulevard.
Officials say the investigation thus far has revealed Austin Dallman, 18, was riding a skateboard west on Shea Boulevard in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling the same direction.
He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, police say, noting the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and fully cooperated with investigators.
“At this point, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision,” Scottsdale Sgt. Benjamin Hoster said in an email.
