The board of The Women’s Collective — also known as The WC — has announced the launch of a new nonprofit focusing on raising funds to support organizations that foster women in leadership.
The Women’s Collective’s goal is to raise funds through community-building events and use those funds to support existing groups that build women leaders, to foster a strong group of women members that are sought-out leaders in the community, and to advocate for and support female involvement on boards, as community leaders, and positive influencers, according to a press release.
The WC’s first fundraising event will be a virtual Rock & Roll Game Show Happy Hour held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 19. Join the fun while supporting inspiring and activating female leaders. Register at The-Womens-Collective Facebook page or online vie Eventbrite at The WC’s Rock & Roll Happy Hour Fundraising Event.
The Women’s Collective has been in the works for years, and is thrilled to start their public engagement, the press release stated. With a 501(c)(3) pending, they are funded through membership support, individual philanthropy, grants, corporate sponsorships, and event-based fundraising.
“While women today have made great strides in achieving leadership positions, they remain far underrepresented at all levels, in government, as CEOs, and in other major leadership positions,” said Jenna Kohl, a founder of The Women’s Collective, in a prepared statement.
“This underrepresentation results in a scarcity of perspective from women. The Women’s Collective is deeply committed to elevating women to leadership roles, getting a seat at the table and our voices heard, both for the women we serve and the strong women leading our organization.”
Recently, The Women’s Collective sponsored the Sun Devil Club’s Women’s Triathlon Team at Arizona State University to begin the important work balancing out executive leadership in the community. The funds will be used for leadership training for these talented female athletes.
The Women’s Collective is based in Scottsdale, Arizona and can be reached at info@the-wc.org.
