Marcellino Ristorante, located 7114 E. Stetson Dr. in Scottsdale, has temporarily closed until the Coronavirus pandemic subsides.

The last take-out order was packaged as Chef Marcellino Verzino and his wife, Sima, thanked their staff for their hard work, and sent them home with food, according to a press release on the fine dining Italian restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale.

Although the restaurant had changed its operations to offer take-out/curbside delivery, after owners observed the global spread of the dangerous virus, they decided it was time to implement more social distancing by closing for several weeks.

“We believe that everyone needs to stay home as much as possible in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep all loved ones safe,” said the chef in a prepared statement.

“Sima and I care deeply about our patrons and our employees, who are like family to us. We look forward to celebrating with them at the restaurant when it is safe to do so.

“Even in the face of adversity, we are continuing to refresh and build. It is a message to all to continue with their lives by renewing their homes, businesses and even family structures to prepare for our future. When the curtain is lifted and we return to our lives, let us rejoice in the fact we have a beautiful future ahead of us. We shall rebuild, unite and bond like never before.”

While the restaurant may be closed temporarily, the restaurant will maintain a social media presence, providing updates on everything from the reopening to what the chef is cooking at home.

Marcellino Ristorante recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, the release added.
