Judy Doyle takes reins as Scottsdale acting city treasurer

Posted

Scottsdale is still on the hunt for its new city treasurer but in the meantime, the city will turn to Budget Director Judy Doyle.

Acting City Treasurer Jeff Nichols resigned from his post in June but agreed to serve as acting city treasurer until Sept. 30. With that day approaching and no final decision, the City Council appointed Ms. Doyle to the role in an interim capacity,

The City Council approved the appointment as part of its consent agenda at its Sept. 8 meeting. Ms. Doyle will begin in her new capacity on Oct. 1 and will receive a salary of $84.07 per hour, working out to $174,865.60 a year.

Ms. Doyle has been a Scottsdale city employee for 17 years and has worked as the city’s budget director since 2012. City staff say the Ms. Doyle's recommendation is for business continuity while the city continues its recruitment.

The Scottsdale City Council accepted Mr. Nichols’ resignation June 16, terminating his employment contract. Mr. Nichols had served as treasurer since September 2013. His resignation came because he plans to move outside the city limits.

While acting as treasurer, Mr. Nichols remained a full-time unclassified benefited employee and received his usual pay and standard benefits package.
