Queen Creek’s first chief of police, Randy Brice, started with the Queen Creek Police Department in mid-July and recruitment is now open for two lieutenants, a senior administrative assistant and system administrator.
The two lieutenants will be part of QCPD’s command staff and will be instrumental in shaping the agency, according to a release.
The job posting for two lieutenants closes at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The ideal candidate for the lieutenant positions will convey a strong and approachable command presence; enjoy teaching, coaching and mentoring; and will be well-versed in community-oriented policing and problem-solving, it states.
With a focus on community-oriented and intelligence led policing, the minimum qualifications for the lieutenant positions include:
A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, public administration, business management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; and
Seven years of sworn law-enforcement experience; and
Three years of supervisory or management experience as a sworn sergeant or above in a law enforcement agency of comparable size or larger --- experience as lieutenant or above in a law-enforcement agency of comparable size is preferable.

The transition to QCPD is anticipated in January 2022 and will include approximately 60 full-time employees in the first fully staffed year.
