Community meeting Feb. 6 on the future of police services in Queen Creek

Following a comprehensive police services study, the Queen Creek Town Council is gathering extensive community input on the future of law enforcement services.
A community meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, to provide an overview of the study and gather feedback, according to a release.
As the town has grown to an estimated population of 52,000 with continued commercial growth, it is important to evaluate programs and services, the release states.
The police services study was conducted as part of the town’s strategic plan and evaluates three options:
maintaining the contract with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office;
contracting with another law enforcement entity; or
The study focuses on developing a municipal police department and maintaining the MCSO contract as the two most feasible options, and includes a chart comparing the two.
Input will be gathered and compiled for Town Council to consider during its Strategic Planning Session at the end of February.
