AZ Aspire Academy increasing its space at town’s Community Center

A business that provides one-to-one academic instruction to students can increase the space it leases at Queen Creek’s Community Center at Founders’ Park, the council decided recently.

The Town Council in a recent consent agenda vote approved an amendment to a contract with Assist Enterprises, doing business as AZ Aspire Academy, to increase its operational space.

AZ Aspire will pay an annual lease rate of $48,690, increased from a previously approved $28,840, Marnie Schubert, communications, marketing and recreation director; and Adam Robinson, recreation manager, said in a memo to the council.

A total of 4,869 square feet of space will be leased, according to the license/use agreement.

On March 7, 2019, the town entered into a long-term lease agreement with Assist Enterprises to use the Community Center at 22407 S. Ellsworth Road to operate a nonprofit accredited program, Ms. Schubert and Mr. Robinson said in the memo.

“This amendment increases the space in which they can operate, allowing them to increase the number of students enrolled,” they said. “Additionally, AZ Aspire will make improvements to the new space, including, but not limited to, new/repaired flooring, painting, drywall repair, and ceiling tile replacement.”

AZ Aspire Academy is suited for students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s, anxiety, dyslexia, giftedness, medical fragility, and student athletes and professionals with alternative scheduling issues. Students have a 1:1 class size for academic courses and a 6:1 for elective courses, such as STEAM, yoga, PE, music and art, according to azaspireacademy.com.
