New hospital planned for Loop 303, Bell Road
Posted
A new hospital is planned for Loop 303 and Bell Road.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital is on track to open this fall at the southwest corner of Bell Road and Loop 303. It will be the city’s first hospital and demonstrates Abrazo Health’s commitment to offering safe, high-quality care in the community, according to a news release.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital will offer emergency care and surgical services in a single-story facility that will include a 13-bed emergency department, an operating room and eight inpatient rooms, along with diagnostic imaging and additional services.
The hospital is designed with an emphasis on quality medical care, convenience, efficiency and shorter emergency room wait times. It will offer access to medical care beyond what’s available at an urgent care or freestanding emergency center, according to Administrative Director Chrissy Salazar, RN.
“Residents of our community still need emergency, preventive and emergency care, even during the current pandemic. Abrazo is laser-focused on patient safety and we want patients to feel safe and comfortable in our hospital. It’s very important to seek care when needed, as delays in care could lead to significant complications in many types of conditions,” Ms. Salazar said.
She noted that Abrazo care teams frequently review patient safety protocols, best practices and ensured that non-COVID patients are kept separated from COVID-positive patients.
“Abrazo Surprise Hospital will operate around the clock, meaning its emergency department and surgical suite are available 24/7. The hospital will offer around-the-clock general surgery, hospitalist and emergency physician coverage,” she said.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital officials anticipate the hospital will create about 50 full-time equivalent clinical and support staff jobs. Job fairs have been held and open positions are posted at abrazohealth.com/careers.
The hospital will be closely integrated with larger sister facilities such as Abrazo Arrowhead Campus, Abrazo specialty and primary care doctors, and affiliated community physicians.
“Our commitment to patient safety includes policies and protocols that originate in our affiliated physician practices and offices. Patients should feel confident and safe in any Abrazo facility or practice," Ms. Salazar added.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital will open following completion of required licensure and inspections. An opening date is expected to be announced soon.
