Arizona Science Center reopens with new ways to visit

Visitors will choose between options featuring guided experiences, self-guided visits

The Arizona Science Center, now open to the public, has announced options for self-guide tours, guided experiences, or a combination of both while following health and safety guidelines.

“Our world has changed. Our method of bringing science to our guests has changed, but our mission has not,” said Chevy Humphrey, The Hazel A. Hare president and CEO, Arizona Science Center.

“Following strict health and safety guidelines, our doors will reopen with modified museum experiences designed to inspire, educate, and engage curious minds through science.”

Visitors will have the choice of selecting guided experiences in the mornings and self-exploration of levels 1, 2, and 3 throughout the day. The Science Center will remain closed on Tuesdays for deep cleaning, according to a press release.

Some exhibits will remain closed, so guests are encouraged to check the website for specifics.

All safety protocols, implemented when the Science Center opened in June, will be maintained for the foreseeable future. Guests and team members must wear face masks/coverings and social distance.

Guests will be expected to purchase timed tickets in advance. Team members will complete a health screening on a daily basis. Guests and team members are expected to wash their hands regularly or use our sanitizing stations.

Health and safety guidelines will be shared with guests prior to arrival and again upon arriving at the Science Center. Signage throughout the Science Center will remind visitors and employees to follow the CDC’s physical distancing and hygiene guidance.

“With almost 200,000 square feet of space, we have the perfect set up to be able to enjoy science safely. We are eager to also be able to provide safe and responsible ways for our community to engage with science,” said Ms. Humphrey.

This plan was developed to be compliant with the City of Phoenix, Maricopa County, state of Arizona. and U.S. laws and regulations, and is in line with guidance provided by Arizona Department of Health Services, Maricopa County Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control. As community transmission rates decline, these guidelines will be adjusted.
