Mesa Community College recently hosted a drive-through graduation celebration to honor its 2,645 2019-20 graduates.

The celebration Dec. 17, postponed from May 2020 due to pandemic restrictions, honored more than 100 recent alumni as they passed through a reception line at the college’s Southern and Dobson Campus, 1833 W. Southern Ave. in Mesa, according to a release.

“We are saddened that we were not able to give all our May 2020 graduates the in-person ceremony they deserve,” MCC Interim President Dr. Lori Berquam said in the release. “We are glad, however, that we were able to honor their hard work in a safe format today in this very joyful drive-through celebration.”

The largest number of associate’s degrees bestowed this year are in networking system administration, business, fashion merchandising and design, Caterpillar technology training and computer information systems.

The top certificates of completion are from the emergency medical technician, firefighter operations, police science, nursing assisting, welding and real estate programs.

Graduates and their friends and family are encouraged to share their achievements and future goals on social media using #mesacc2020grad.
