Abrazo West gift shop donates inventory to New Life Center
Posted
Inventory from the hospital gift shop at Abrazo West Campus, 13677 W. McDowell Road in Goodyear, has been donated to New Life Center, a nonprofit emergency shelter for children and adults in the Southwest Valley.
The hospital’s Partners for Health, a volunteer group that operated the gift shop, made the donation after the shop was closed due to novel coronavirus concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Barry Worman, director of Volunteer Services and Community Outreach at Abrazo West Campus.
“Our Partners for Health are very passionate about supporting Abrazo West Campus in many ways. One of their contributions was operating the hospital’s gift shop. But with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic it was no longer feasible for them to keep the gift shop open,” Mr. Worman said. “They decided to donate all the gift shop inventory to a local nonprofit organization called the New Life Center. The hospital administration supported this decision and the Partners for Health felt the women and children served by this organization could benefit from all the gift shop items.”
The inventory was boxed up, and representatives from the Goodyear shelter picked up the items, which included stuffed animals, blankets, toys, crafts, decorations and other items, Mr. Worman said.
New Life Center serves more than 1,000 children and adults in the West Valley annually through its emergency shelter and outreach support programs.
